Meadow

Picture
Welcome to the Meadow classroom. My name is Dorian and I would like to  introduce myself. I have an Early Childhood and Elementary Education degree from Temple University. This is my 6th year teaching at Tabor and I previously taught in the Philadelphia School District for 8 years. I am also the mother of Kennedy, Paige and twin infants James and Maddie who spend their days with Miss Nichole.

The following is important information for you to know to ensure a safe, fun year for your child. If your child arrives before 7:30am, we will be happy to serve him/her breakfast that you have provided. If your child arrives after 7:30am, please make sure that he/she eats breakfast at home. Morning snack is served at 9:30am.

At Tabor, we have an open door policy and welcome parents to come and visit throughout the day. I ask that you please keep in mind the importance of routine for our children and visit at times that will be the least disruptive to both your child and the classroom as a whole. If you need to speak in length to me, I ask that you schedule a time in advance that will work best for everyone.

We love to play outside, therefore I ask that every child wear socks and sneakers everyday. We will be using the large playground which contains a lot of climbing equipment. We keep very active throughout the day. We have circle time, creative time, and outside time. We also work on gross and fine motor skills daily.

There is a communication log outside of our classroom that you are more than welcome to write in if you do not see me. Please also place any comments or suggestions in that book that would help make Tabor a better place for your child.

We will be having brown bag lunches periodically throughout the year. Please make sure you label your child’s lunch and place it either in the refrigerator or in his/her cubby.

This year we are asking that you provide us with a shoe box that will be stored in the classroom. It will be used to hold extra clothes throughout the year. Please provide 2 extra pairs of pants, 2 shirts, socks and a pair of shoes. Lots of extra underwear will also be needed once potty training begins.

I fill out a daily report that lets you know how your child has been doing during the day. Please check you child’s file everyday for important papers and information. Lastly, please provide clean linens at the beginning of each week. They will be sent home with your child at the end of the week.

I look forward to getting to know you and your child while in the Meadow Classroom! If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to talk to me. The extension for our classroom is x279.

Thank You and Welcome to The Meadow,

Miss Dorian
